Our business was founded by artist and designer Sequoia P. Madan in 1991 Mill Valley, CA after he attended art college. Sequoia has spent all his life in the arts studying graphic design, photography, painting, functional art, poetry and music. 

Sequoia seemingly lived in a world of endless inspiration, now using natural materials like iron, wood, onyx, and stone to create functional designs of tremendous beauty. Mostly by Nature is considered one of the finest stores for luxury home decor items.

At Mostly by Nature, we believe that every piece of home decor furniture or lighting can bring a sense of uniqueness, style, playfulness and joy to a home. Most of our designs are custom handcrafted in our Santa Fe, New Mexico studio. Each piece sold reflects Sequoia’s deeply rooted connection to nature and his philosophy that less is more. Our designs are simple, elegant,

and functional.

 We strive to help our buyers bring more home decor, beauty, art, and natural materials into their homes. We listen to the functional needs of our buyers and we'll help each buyer find the unique piece that best meets their needs.

Artist and designer Sequoia draws his inspiration from across the world. He does not allow himself to be limited by arbitrary boundaries, instead viewing the natural world in its entirety as a source of inspiration for creating playful yet elegant pieces of functional art. The ability to draw inspiration from many sources is part of what gives each piece its own unique character. This is also why we're confident in saying that everyone who visits our Santa Fe showroom will fall in

love with what they will see and experience in our showroom.

Whether you are looking for a stunning table lamp or a bed frame that brings new life to the room, you'll find something special at Mostly by Nature. Our slab wood dining tables are breathtaking, and every slab is hand selected at the source for its beauty by our artists. Each table has its own unique character and no two are exactly the same.

Our bed frames are very popular, too. Each frame is handcrafted and adjusted to your specifications. The combination of iron and woods or wood and onyx backlight stone in the headboards is earthy and elegant. Our coffee table with open stone riverbeds in various woods like Monkey or Make wood are like 3D artworks that could be hung on the walls as artwork.

Our handcrafted lamps are as popular today as they were 30 years ago when they were first created. Our custom Onyx Lighting is so beautiful that it will take your breath away.
